The Arts Council of Algoma is committed to:
coordinating, educating, advocating and informing on behalf of Algoma Artists.  

 
The Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie & District will now be operating under
Arts Council of Algoma as part of our ongoing commitment to connecting artists throughout the entire Algoma district.
 
 
We are in full operation, and now have a new office space.
 
 
The Council will continue to support arts and culture in Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District,

What we are all about...
History:
 
Formally known as the Allited Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie , followed by the Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie & District the council was incoporated in 1968, by a group of local artists and art supporters who  recognized the need for an organization that would support and encourage artistic development in the community.  Still to this day, the Arts Council is committed to that vision by promoting and coordinating the artistic endeavours of our members, as well as contributing to the rich cultural life of the Algoma District.  The Arts Council of Algoma has been a registered not-for-profit charity since 1980.
Mandate: 
 
The Arts Council of Algoma is a registered, non-profit, charitable corporation.
 
The purpose of the Arts Council of Algoma is:
  
  - To coordinated the activities of individuals,
     groups & organizations engaged in
     arts and culture in Algoma;
 
 
  - To encourage education in and appreciation        of arts and culture; and
 
  - To provide an information service for artists,      groups, organizations and the public in
     Algoma.
